Balicasag Island is a 25 hectare isle located at the south west tip of Bohol. Owing to its size, you can actually roam around it in less than 40 minutes. In the midst of the island, there is a light tower,that serves as a guide for every fishermen by night fall.

the crystal clear blue water in this island is the main reason why beach lovers and diving enthusiasts keep on coming back. the marine sanctuary being maintained by the government and the boholanos makes this the #2 diving spot in the Philippines.

it was my first time to experienced snorkeling, and mind you i was very hesitant to try it. At 25 i never had the chance to learn how to swim, so with that in mind, i grabbed the nicest life vest and secured it to myself.

Thankfully, after few failed attempts, i learned the basics of snorkeling, and i must say there is only one rule for one to survive this activity and that is to BREATH INTO YOUR MOUTH!. basically being a first timer, I did not fully understand the fast track lesson our guide was teaching, but after a few minutes of awful salt-water drinking experienced i finally learned the trick.

the marine sanctuary in Balicasag is a must spot to see when you are in Bohol, seeing variety fishes, relishing the beauty of the coral reefs and savoring the experience of being one with the sea is really a must try!
