As i stamped my trodat on the 12th and last chart for this shift, i can't help but sigh... finally after 8 grueling hours, i am done! Glancing at my old swatch, i left the area smiling for it is only 6:49 in the morning. Well, when you are working as a nurse in one of the largest government hospital in the country you get used to going home late. An hour or two overtime is a part of the routine, you don't even mind even if your extra hour is unpaid. So to relish this once in a life time moment, karen and i decided to head to Quiapo for a early morning side walk...
after docking our things in our locker, we immediately exited the hospital grounds and rushed off to to our destination. Since it was a Friday or more commonly known as Quiapo day, the pavement of Quiapo Church was filled with side walk vendors, Black Nazarene devotees, early morning rushers and of course lurkers like me and karen.
This place's ambiance never fails to mystify me, the contrasting auras present are such difficult ideas to comprehend. By far, this place exceeds all my expectation. how can a single place be a home to merchants wishing for a good profit each day? or even to an opportunist ready to claim something they don't own? Not to mention a number of religious people praying almost everyday for their heart's desire? Contrasting ideas, harmoniously living together, making a community that only Quiapo would have.
